Literature Text

She stands there now.
A Goddess amongst humble men
Never before, a more perfect incarnation
Of idle beauty, grace and charm

I stare upon this creature of finite magic
The Gods have truly favoured her.
Even the great figures of Aphrodite and Hera, Goddesses themselves
Have found their match in this fairest of maidens.

But what am I?
But a humble peasant I do be.
Struggling to make myself known to others.
But failing at every turn.

She is joined by her Princes.
More fitting suitors than I.
For their feats are known for far and wide.
Mine own little more than dust on the infinite winds.

She leaves me now.
I stand alone again.
Her glowing aura fades.
My chance once again gone.

But who am I?
To challenge the order of things?
I know my place, and I will stay there
No matter how I try.

So I shoulder my duties
My tasks, my works.
For though I have little hope of success,
I have the ability to try.
Just an experimental poem... You can probably guess the title.

Don't ride me too hard about grammar. Its just free verse.
